Core Concepts

Core Concepts

Aimed towards students in grades 7-9, Core Concepts is a series of six, standalone classroom-ready activities that highlight key foundational ideas in Earth science. Sourced from Mining Matters’ comprehensive collection of curriculum-linked teacher resources, each activity focuses on themes from a particular discipline within the Geosciences, including Earth’s structure, minerals, rocks, soil, erosion, mining, and environment.

Core Concepts activities are self-directed and do not require participation in an instructional development workshop. The contents of Core Concepts support current teaching practices that value hands-on experience where students take an active role in their learning. Any rocks and minerals samples, as well as print resources required for successful classroom delivery, can be sourced through Mining Matters.
