Patricia Dillon
Patricia Dillon, a distinguished alumna of the University of Toronto with degrees in Geology and Education, has been at the helm of Mining Matters since its founding in 1994. Her career began as a science educator before transitioning to Teck in 1979 as an exploration geologist, where she enjoyed a remarkable 32-year tenure. Recognizing the mining industry's need for enhanced social and environmental responsibility, Patricia championed transformative initiatives across various industry organizations. She served as President of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) from 2000-2001 and the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) from 2006-2008. Her contributions have earned her significant accolades, including being named one of the 100 inspirational women in mining worldwide in 2014 and her induction into the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame in 2021.
