The Mineral Resources and Mining Education Tours are unique professional development programs that have been offered, in partnership with the Canadian Ecology Centre, since 2010. The Tours provide education in Earth science and mineral resources, including hands on learning activities for the classroom; field trips to mine and exploration and mining service and supply facilities; opportunities to engage with industry professionals; and networking opportunities for participants.

The tours are sponsored and available for a fee of $50, per tour. Registration includes transportation,
accommodation and meals. Participants are responsible for expenses associated with travel to and
from tour locations.

The 2018 program includes two tours, each focused on a different theme:

"Mineral Resources and Mining Foundations Tour" (August 13-17)

This tour will focus on providing participants with a foundational understanding of Earth science and mineral resources, through education and training workshops and local field trips; engaging with education and industry professionals; and site visits to mine service supply companies in North Bay. Accommodations will be provided by the Canadian Ecology Centre.

"Mine Life Cycle Tour" (August 20-24)

This tour will focus on all phases of the mining cycle and the Sudbury region. The Tour will include site visits to an operating mine and reclamation areas; a processing plant; exploration and mine service supply companies and "Dynamic Earth", the science centre that features earth science and mining experiences. Accommodation will be provided by the Canadian Ecology Centre and Laurentian University.
