Mining Matters invites you to explore the work of geologists, engineers and environmental scientists at our Virtual Earth Science Camp!
Campers will engage in fun, interactive activities as they explore Earth science concepts, such as mineral and rock identification, the rock cycle, and the layers of the Earth. They will get to participate in science experiments, games and crafts as they will learn about the mining cycle, discover the properties of minerals and metals and how they form, and participate in scavenger hunts to make the connection between mineral resources and the things they use every day.
With a new theme each day, you will become an Earth science expert in no time. Put on your hard hat and join us for an experience you won't want to miss!
Dates and Times:
Monday, August 12 to Friday, August 20, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. ET
Note: Each session will be capped at 12 participants on a first-come first-served basis.
Age Range: 14-18 years old
Cost: Free
The program will be delivered via Zoom. A meeting link will be sent out prior to the start date.
Themes:
Monday: Minerals are the Building Blocks of Rocks
Tuesday: Rock and Roll
Wednesday: Do You Want a Metal for That?
Thursday: Every Mine Has a Story
